Born in Iran in an artist family. He studied string instruments and composition at the University of Teheran. His teacher was the legendary Mohammad Reza Lotfi. After moving to Germany he founded the music school Nava in Cologne. He has given many highly respected performances at international festivals and on broadcasting shows all over the world. Nowadays Majid Derakhshani is considered as one of the best tar players in Iran with the respectful title “Ostad”, meaning a master who can give the best performance on a classical instrument. more
